Highlights
The German National Library in Leipzig was planning to site the German Museum of Books and Writing and the German Music Archive in an extension on the western gable of its historical library building. After an intensive planning phase, Bruynzeel was able to offer the National Library a tailored solution to take full advantage of the available space.
By using electronic high density mobile shelving systems, Compactus® Electro, we increased the available storage capacity by over 100 per cent – equivalent to an additional 1 million books. Central to the Libary’s requirements was a ventilation system to ensure the preservation and conservation of its stock, and to meet statutory requirements of the German National Library’s conditions for archive storage. Through an integral software program, our mobile storage system guarantees sufficient airflow for safe preservation of books and archives.
